polishing

printing. mounting. traveling. hanging. partying. the release draws near and these types of events are always a last minute effort. the culmination of it all with the final hour of hammers pounding, sweat dripping, hearts throbbing, clankers rushing, fretting, arranging. we are almost there. a mad amount of creativity is tossed out during these last frenzied moments, much like a crescendo. or an ejaculation. im just stoked all of this effort is tangible! i cant wait to get that little zine in my hand, kick back with jake and chris, drink an iron city beer and smile, cause we actually did it.

Wasted Youth

Yesterday afternoon I received this rad shirt from The Dead Bird Project . If you haven't checked out their site, you're seriously missing out. These dudes cover the all the major food groups: sexy women, graf, tattoos, bikes, being awesome, staying awesome, etc, etc, etc. They also hooked up some photos of Hattie Watson and pile of stickers. Wut up! They're holding it down in Austin, so give them some love. If you're not down with all of those things, I'm not sure what went wrong in your life, but that's a sad story... Maybe you should go back to school and get your life right. Other than...

Experimentation

Just when I am starting to get comfortable with a setup or process.  Just when I have it down and have it perfected.  I like to do something unpredictable.  Call it a mutation, call it a direct delta whose impulse will drive you past your current threshold and into another level.  I would agree that practice makes better, but you need to step outside the situation to really wrap your head around it and rise above.  Play it different.  Rewrite the rules. This is my new darkroom setup, incorporating some ideas from a discussion with an old friend.  Perhaps this will assist me in attaining...

stampin!

Got out of work early today, came home to find this lil guy on my porch. If you don't know by now, this zine is a work of passion. We're stamping and hand numbering every copy of this zine. The first 60 will be available with a handmade 5x7 silver gelatin print. It's going to be dope! Remember, if you're in Pittsburgh roll out to the shop for the zine release party. 4314 Main Street, Pittsburgh PA 15224 We still have two weeks until the release. So keep checking back...

It’s a good thing we don’t make hammers.

This weekend has been fucking killer a lot of fun. Friday night Julie and I went to check out our friend Chucky Hendershot in a crazy version of Wizard of Oz, produced by Rage of The Stage. That crew always finds a way to turn childhood fairy tails into something twisted. The play was a great time. If you're in Pittsburgh, you should definitely check it out. After the play, I came out to find the front tire on my bike had been deflated, thanks to a discarded peace sign earring. Effin' hippies. Yeah, it's like that. Saturday was rad. We rolled out to handmade arcade to see what was up. I picked...

back from the printer!

Today was a great day. The weather is starting to warm up here in Pittsburgh. Got the bike out, cleaned it up and rode to work. The best part of today, was coming home to find 250 copies of issue #1 sitting on my porch. These look great. 44 pages. High quality paper (80% recycled, matte finish). Offset print! The only thing left to do, is apply the title and hand number the copies. The zine won't be for sale until the release party. If you're in Pittsburgh on May 7th, make sure to drop by the Shop in Bloomfield. We're going to be partying and you can pick up a copy. If you can't make it Pittsburgh,...

mark your calendars…

The proof copy has been approved... The printing press is running the offset printers... and the venue has been reserved. There is so much I want to say about the release of the zine, but we've got a month to go... so I'm going to ask you to stay patient. I want to tell you what this project has meant to me and what is has meant to my partners; however, this is just the beginning and we've got 30+ days to go until we get there. In the meantime I'll tell you this, the release party is going to be sick. Danny Crown on the ones and twos. Silver gelatin prints from the zine. Edoardo's, Rosa's...
