in solidarity

students have been protesting like crazy here in london for the past few months because the government stuck it to them hard with massive tuition increases and serious educational cuts. it does not affect me directly, but i support the uprise completely. terrific gatherings of people have been at these events; mostly students and faculty, but lots of bobbies, riot police, anarchists, punks, socialists, the usual dissidents that turn up at such events, as well as journalists; tonnes of them. they were clambering all over one another hungering for the perfect shot with their shiny sleek digital cameras....

Valedictorian

I'm so psyched right now. I've been working with the band valedictorian for a while now. These guys have really progressed as musicians, and I'm blown away everytime I watch them play. Yesterday, a little bird dropped off a few copies of their new CD. When you really put yourself into a project, there is nothing like holding the finished product in your hands. I shot the photos for the CD, and designed the layout. I'm really happy that I was able to contribute to this project. I'm not sure what else to say. I'm thankful that my photos will be associated with music on this album. Thank...

January in the darkroom

I was looking forward on making some prints tonight. I came home, ate something to hold me over until dinner. I reviewed the negatives I wanted to print. Walked into the darkroom... and it was 30 degrees in there. That's right, 2 degrees below freezing. Right now, my darkroom can serve as a walk in refrigerator. I don't mind the cold that much; however, keeping the chemicals warm enough to make prints becomes quite a task. So, change of plans.... Blog a little, then review my high res scans for the zine. Here's to hoping this cold snap breaks. I've got some prints I want to make.

Get Stuck!

If you'd like some stickers hit us up! These little babies are going up world wide, and I'm sure you'd like to throw one up. I just received word that Amsterdam just received some stickers. Don't sleep on these... It's Friday. A day that many, many people look forward to. I know I do. I love Fridays. Sure I've had some crappy Fridays. Who hasn't? And I'm not trashing the other days of the week, afterall each day truly is a gift. What I'm saying is this, people tend to live more on weekends. They let loose. They let their hair down, and have fun. So here's to that. Try to live every day like...

Damn! It’s cold.

I've been freezing my ass off in the darkroom. I really do love being in the darkroom, but lately it's taken some motivation to get me into there. Thing are moving along well. I've got most of my final prints for the zine, and I've taken some good notes so that I can make some sale prints. Regardless... I'm looking forward to a break in the cold. I'm being a wuss. Boo.

relationships take work!

i have had 2 altercations in a twenty-four hour period; my old, trusty nikon who has been an old friend for years juxtaposed with navigating my way round the newer, more opulent leica and raffish mamiya are testing my patience. photography aint always easy, but its worth it. my relationship with it is a delicate balance and im trying to find a middle ground between the comfortable and the unknown. film got twisted and it took a bunch of time to untangle the complex mess. its a work in progress, but i think im making strides.

No hay banda

I'm supposed to be getting some work done on the website.  I am supposed to be updating it, but I have not found the time.  Sometimes the most difficult thing one can do is try to keep the balance between work and art.  Sometimes you have to make the time and make the sacrifice.

my love affair is heatin’ up

london was a difficult transition from new york. i’m not gonna lie, i was rather indignant for a while. to make matters worse, the shades of grey got me down. this little island in the north atlantic can go weeks without a slip of sun. but, aside from the obvious depression and lack of vitamin d, shooting was so uninspiring. no light meant no shadows, no magic hour, no illuminations. eventually, i got over it. slowly. and i had some fun, using any excuse possible to capture those elusive beams. and now, with just over a fortnight left in this borrowed city, im seeing it in a whole different...

snowy nights

Have you ever noticed that summers seem so fleeting, while the winter tends to linger? I'm not saying that the winter, snow or being cold is a bad thing. I try to find something redeeming in each of the seasons. Personally, I like crisp mornings that winter offers. I also think that snowy nights are great opportunities to stay inside with a few friends and talk about crazy ideas. I dunno... maybe it's just my ideas that are crazy. I have to say, I don't really like February though, but that's still a few weeks away.
